Gynecomastia is an increase in the amount of breast gland tissue in men, caused by
an imbalance of the hormones . Overweight young boys and men accumulate fat in the
chest region leading to a pseudo-gynecomastia like an appearance. Gyming or losing weight
will not reduce the breast tissue in gynecomastia.
WHAT IS GYNACOMASTIA SURGERY ?
It is done under general or local anesthesia. A small incision is made in axillary region and
fat and breast tissue is removed from below the skin. Postoperatively pain killers is given.
Surgery takes 1-2 hrs.
WHAT IS RECOVERY TIME ?
Hospitilization is done for a maximum period of 24 hrs.You can go back to work after two
days and heavy strenuous activity can be resumed after three weeks.
